Kindle, anyone?
Anybody out there in Bloggy Internetland ever use Kindle from Amazon? Do you own the thing? Ever seen one? If so, do all the books look sort of the same (black text on white background, same font, minimal layout, etc.)?
Anybody ever published a book for Kindle? How'd that go? Did you just upload an html version of your book? Did you use CSS?
Obviously, I have some work-related questions. Leave me a comment if you're willing to answer 'em!

Purpose in Life
Most days, I find myself asking what the heck I'm doing here. What's my purpose? Am I really supposed to stress this hard about making the website match the catalog? Is it really important that the margins are pleasing to the eye? Am I expecting enough out of my kids that they'll grow into humans who make a difference in the world?
And then I read about Jimmy Carter, who many would argue was a pretty crappy president but one of the best human beings who ever walked the earth.
What have he and Mrs. Carter been up to lately? Oh, I don't know. This and that, you know, and eradicating a disease that caused worms to painfully work their way out of people's bodies.
Yeah! Seriously! Worms! Get ingested as eggs, and then grow up, and then gnaw their way out! FOR REAL!
Could there ever be anything more hideous? I think not.
So Jimmy Carter, who has used his own money as well as his own blood, sweat, and tears, takes it upon himself to raise money and awareness among the potential victims of this disease (who happen to mostly be in Somalia, and mostly be people nobody seems to care about), and he manages to systematically cut the instances of this disease in half, then in quarter, then in half again, etcetera, to the point that it should be COMPLETELY GONE within a year or so.
What must that be like, to look at yourself in the mirror, and know that you did that? Can you even imagine?
Amazing.
Today is the eighth anniversary of the day that my extraordinary neice, Sophie, entered the world, and I'm telling you people, this child has the capacity to do BIG THINGS like that. BIG. She is incredibyly smart, unbelievably talented at everything she attempts, and remarkably kind. This child is going to do something Carteresque. Just watch. And when she does, I might be able to get her autograph for you.

Four Foods already?
Man. I have been such a lazy blogger that I don't know why you keep stopping by. I'm sure glad you do, though, and I promise I'll get back into the swing of every-day or at least every-other-day posting one of these days. This time of year just gets even crazier than usual. Today I had the first migraine I've had to endure in a long time, maybe a year? Remember when I used to whine about those all the time? Well, they've mostly left me alone, and I appreciate that!
Onto this week's Four Foods on Friday, courtesy of Fun, Crafts, and Recipes.
#1. Does your family usually eat meals in the kitchen or somewhere else?
It depends on what sort of phase we're in, but usually we're in th
