Roger, sorry to be the over cautious bearer of bad tidings (again?), but I believe that for health and safety reasons these balls are usually accompanied by a slip that warns you not to use car tyre compressors. Could be completely wrong on this, of course, but you often get this warning with various inflatables.... - Reply by Roger Clarkson
I use the car tyre compressor to re-inflate my friends gym ball. You really need training in using the ball as it is easy to 'cheat' and not get the full benefit of exercises e.g. placing your feet further apart for stability instead of using your core muscles. (The nearest I have to a gym ball is a large marine float I found on a beach miles from anywhere.)... - Reply by Fiona C

If you intend to 'exercise' on them as well, you have to take your height into account as well from what I remember. - Reply by Jaki T
So Fiona, if I sit on one of these instead of lying on the settee watching TV, will I burn off calories or just get a good posture? We could get rid of the settee and get 4 different sized ones for our family. My kids would love that (not)! - Reply by Goesona Bit
Quoting: fionacatrionaYou also need to make sure it's inflated enough - it should "give" only a couple of inches when you lean hard on it. Been thinking of getting one of these Fiona - how do you inflate them then? Do you take it to the petrol station and keep on sitting on it to see that it only 'gives' a couple of inches? Or is it a handpump job in which case uou get to exercise your upper arms?... - Reply by Fiona C
Hi Paul - so 7 people have peeked at your balls and I'm the only one with enough balls to post anything! Yes you need to get one that will support your weight. You also need to make sure it's inflated enough - it should "give" only a couple of inches when you lean hard on it. And this gives me yet another opportunity to post a pic of my lovely gymball, which I'm keeping good by not using! BTW, welcome to THC! ... - Reply by Paul Coverdale
I'm thinking of getting a fitness ball for balance/core stability to help my skiing but notice they come in different sizes. Are they based on height/weight or type of exercise?
