Lee Couillard, USPTA, Head Tennis Professional, Punahou School, Honolulu, Hawaii shows the winning iPod Nano Drill from the 2008 USPTA Hawaii Convention. The "Dynamic Volley Drill" has two players hold a rope that all the students must bend underneath and split step before hitting the volley.
This exercise focuses on proper body posture and balance along with using the split step. Most players volley from a static position, however, most of the time you are hitting volleys from a moving position. This drill works on the response time and facilitates students getting to the net as quickly as possible.
