- The LPGA will skip Tulsa in 2009
Octagon, tournament managers of the LPGA Tour in Tulsa, and theLPGA Tour have announced that Tulsa will be without an official LPGA Tour event in 2009. This comes
following the recent announcement that former title sponsor SemGroup would be unable to fund the event
in 2009 and beyond. In addition, an extensive search for replacement sponsors has been unsuccessful.
"The support of the Tulsa community has been tremendous throughout this process," said Doug Eibling
of Octagon. "However, given our current economic climate, finding someone to commit the needed
money has proven to be an extremely difficult task. While we are disappointed that we will not be on the
LPGA's 2009 schedule, we continue to believe in Tulsa as a future home for professional golf
tournaments. It is a tremendously supportive market that has been a great hit with the LPGA and its
players for the last eight years."
Talks are underway about a possible LPGA pro-am or special event featuring LPGA players that would
be held during the 2009 golf season at Cedar Ridge Country Club.
Octagon will continue to have an office in Tulsa, and is currently assisting Southern Hills with
preparations for the 2009 U.S. Amateur. Octagon will continue to work not only with the LPGA Tour,
but also the PGA TOUR, USGA and PGA of America, to try to bring professional golf back to Tulsa for
2010 and beyond.

- Two wins in the books, one game to go for college hoops
With high school football just reaching the playoffs and conference championships still up in the air in college football, it's hard to believe that it's time for hoops.

Byron Eaton scored a career-high 27 points and fellow senior Terrel Harris added 20 as Oklahoma State's Cowboy Basketball team defeated the UTSA Roadrunners 76-57 here Friday night inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. It was the first win in the first game of the Travis Ford era at Oklahoma State.
Eaton was 9-of-15 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line en route to his career best scoring night. He also had four assists and four steals. Harris was 8-of-12 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, and grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomores Ibrahima Thomas and James Anderson added 14 and 10 points, respectively, to round out the Cowboy double-figure scorers.
Oklahoma State trailed by eight points early, down 11-3 just 4-1/2 minutes into the game. The Cowboys tied it up at 11-all three minutes later on a jumper by Eaton. OSU trailed 21-17 with 5-1/2 minutes left in the first period before the Pokes went on a 14-4 run to end the half.
After Devin Gibson hit a three pointer for UTSA to make it 31-28, OSU scored 12 unanswered points and led 43-28 with 14:44 remaining in the game. The game went back and forth at that point but the Roadrunner never cut the lead to single digits and Oklahoma State eventually pulled out the 19-point victory.
Oklahoma State committed just seven turnovers, the fewest by a Cowboy squad since the end of the 2004-05 season. The Cowboys also shot nearly 52 percent from the floor, although the Pokes made just 4-of-14 from beyond the three-point line.
The Cowboys (1-0) will host North Texas on Monday night inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
